This weekend I took advantage of the brilliant offer Harvey Nichols in Leeds had in their beauty department and thought I would treat myself!
After chatting to the makeup artist on the YSL counter, she asked what eye cream I used – I said at the moment none! She recommended using the new YSL eye treatment under my eyes and not to use concealer as it is very drying and instead just use YSL touché eclait on its own. She suggested using the treatment twice or 3 times a day, on a morning under makeup and after I have removed makeup on an evening as an over night treatment. I would normally apply concealer (current favourite is Estee Lauder disappear) then YSL touché eclait over the top – I find this is the best for hiding dark circles as it is light reflecting and have been using this for years. After chatting to the assistant at YSL I realised that I apply too much and it works much better in conjunction with a moisturising eye cream underneath and in effect you need to use less so therefore the product should last a longer period of time (I use touché elait once or twice a day every day and normally go through 3 or 4 pens a year!)
I purchased the following:
YSL touché eclait – I love this product and been using this for years it’s the one product I cant live without! It covers dark circles and highlights cheeks and brows perfectly.
YSL False Lash effect mascara, this is brilliant has a nice brush and gives full false lash effect eye lashes and is very pigmented in black; the blackest black I have come across in fact.
YSL Top secrets touché express wake-up eye care pen - one click pushes out enough cream for both eyes to apply around the eye area in a circular motion with the cooling roller ball. It is light and sinks into the skin quickly, is super moisturising and gives a brightening effect to the eyes. I have been using this for the past few days and really surprised I haven’t need to apply under eye conclearer just this product and a tiny amount of YSL touché eclait, I have really noticed the difference!
I had a look on the MAC counter but nothing caught my eye – they were out of stock of a lot of products from the new collections including the viva glam lady gaga lipstick. I did purchase a limited edition spring/summer perfume called Hue Pinkaura, which is a floral sweet smell perfect for spring (its in a pink bottle). I have to say you don’t get very much perfume for your money but I do like the sleek small bottle it’s the perfect size for handbags! I also got some Shu Uemura Smokey layers lashes.
On to the free gift which is wonderful – I will use all of these items as usually with free gifts you would only use one or two of the items:
A really cute black and white HN makeup/cosmetics bag;
A voucher to get some individual lashes applied at the Shu Uemura counter. I had these applied on Saturday (5 individual lashes on each outer corner) the MUA said they would last around 3 days however the next morning I forgot I had them in, rubbed my eyes and most of them had fallen out! I really loved the look, very subtle and natural with just a little drama on the outer corner. I will definitely try these again – however I would buy cheaper ones from sallys as I would expect these will be only worn once before loosing them when they fall out.
Rodical Brazilian Tan sample – looking forward to trying this;
Bare Minerals foundation and mini brush sample – this size pot is really handy for travel or to pop in my bag;
A gorgeous Butter London nail polish in ‘I heart nails’ ;
Mini handbag bottle of Marc Jacobs Lola Perfume;
Elemis Tri-enzyme re-surfacing facial wash (love this!) ;
Eve Lom rescue mask (brilliant for clearing up spots and conjestion);
Laura Mercier Lipgloss in Rose (perfect colour for my complexion!);
YSL Lip & Contour shaper treatment – absolutely love this product, smells of passionfruit and leaves the lips soft and shiny like a lipgloss but without being sticky;
Lacome Virtuose mascara
I also was given a lovely mesh bag from Clinique containing moisture surge, lipgloss and eye cream shadow.

Lush Haul
I dont normally do these haul type posts but ive had a few requests so thought id share with you all what i got from Lush today:
Baby bath bot bath bomb (limited edition for easter i believe?)
waving not drowning bath bomb
and my favourite Tisty Tosy (the heart shaped bath bomb with rosepetals)
I did also pick up the butterball as it said it was good for dry skin but the lady must of forgotton to add this as its not in my bag! These were all nicely giftwrapped with ribbon for easter/mothers day. I love the whole idea of lush and i adore taking baths and have been using lush bath bombs for years, and although the other lush products look fun im yet to be adventurous and try any other products so... what other lush products would you recommend for me?
The facial products scare me, i just feel they would bring me out in a rash and they all seem very overpowering of perfume! I did try a sample of the ultrabland cleanser after much hype from others but i wasnt impressed, it did leave my skin feeling soft but i didnt like the smell much and i felt like i needed to wash my face again as it left a greasey residue on my skin. I really love the idea of the lush spa experience facials where they stimulate all of your senses but as im not overly keen on trying out the facial products and the fact the treatment costs £125 puts me off!!
Have you tried the lush spa or recommend any of the products?
NOTD - Red Nails
I have recently discovered POP beauty nail glam polishes and in particular the shade 'strawberry' which is a brilliant bright red shade. The polishes claim to be longlasting, non-chip, strengthening, hardening and ridge filling, but lets face it dont most nail polishes claim to be chip-free?
The polish was very easy to apply - simply glides on without streaks and is without doubt the best nail polish ive come across. I didnt apply a base or top coat and wore this polish for nearly 2 weeks without chipping, which is amazing! I also have noticed my nails are in much better condition (which are usually weak and snap easily), they are now much longer in length and stronger and the only difference I can think of is this new polish!
This shade looks gorgeous on the toes as well as the fingernails. Have you tried any other shades in the POP range?
