Kukui Oil - Wonder Balm

I'm a huge fan of Lip Balms (especially ones containing natural ingredients) as you will know if your an avid reader of Perfectly Polished! Kukui nut oil has been used by Hawaiians for centuries to keep skin soft and smooth. Traditionally, newborn babies were bathed in the oil as a means of protection from the harsh sun, drying winds and salt water. It has outstanding skin-conditioning properties, highly penetrating to the skin and can sooth skin irritations, treat eczema, psoriasis, dry skin and acne. The Kukui Oil Wonder Balm hydrates, soothes and deeply moisturises dry skin with a nourishing blend of Kukui oil, Monoi, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter and Beeswax.

I tend to get dry chapped lips in the winter and always need a good lip balm close by. The wonder balm comes in solid form in a simple container, melts slightly when warmed and on contact with the skin. It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t feel at all sticky or greasy when applied. It is a multi-use balm and can be used on the lips, cuticles, heels and elbows. I have been re-applying this all day on my lips – not because of the smell (it doesn’t really have much of a scent) but I just love the feeling the balm has on my lips and it has resulted in my lips feeling soft and super moisturised this evening.

I recently have been using purple shampoo (I’ll Name and Shame this one right here) to brighten up my highlights a little. Purple shampoo is very powerful it should only be used once a fortnight – I have been using this at least twice a week so my own fault to why my scalp has been irritated, itchy and sore the past few days.
