BlablaCar

This is not the usual beauty topic – but as it concerns money-saving tips and how to save on travel I thought I would share with any students out there that are interested in hearing about the ‘BlablaCar’ service which revolutionises student car trips with a new  ‘Campus’ site for cheap and fun trips ideal for students and student journeys.

Wanting to visit friends or family and want to save money on the extortionate petrol prices? Annoyed at the ever increasing rip-off train fares? Well BlablaCar can help - they connect drivers with people looking for a ride, designed to specifically help people share car journeys, make new friends and save on travel costs. The idea is simple: drivers ‘rent’ their car seats on trips they are already making, essentially sharing the cost of the petrol and upkeep. For passengers, BlablaCar is by far the cheapest and most social alternative way to travel, and better for the environment. With fewer cars on the road, members have so far saved over 200,000 tons of CO2 since the launch.

Over 100 universities have so far joined the Campus service and each has their own dedicated Campus page, making it easy to find both drivers and passengers heading in the same direction. Nicolas Brusson, co-founder of Blablacar says “Campus is for savvy socials so they can make new friends and save money. Whether it’s a journey home to see family, a weekend visiting friends at other Universities, or a road trip to Cornwall, Blackpool or even Paris, BlablaCar takes the hassle out of students looking for a cheaper ride.”

As part of the Campus launch, BlablahCar is also looking for the University or university town that takes maximising car journeys the most seriously. A prize of £3,000 is up for grabs for the uni club that demonstrates its campus as the most active on BlablahCar. To enter your club, simply email campus@blablacar.com and request a Compeition Pack which provides information on how to win as well as ideas and materials for ways to promote the competition to others. The winning club will be chosen at the end of Jan 2012.
