Review: Boudoir Prive (Jolie Box) November 2011

Last night I came home to find my first & last (since they have been taken over by Jolie!) Boudoir Prive box waiting for me. If your not familiar with Boudoir Prive, it works on a similar concept to the other beauty boxes, whereby you pay a monthly subscription of £10 per month plus P&P and receive 5-6 luxury samples delivered to your door to try in the comfort of your home. Boudoir Prive have just been bought by a french company, Jolie, and will be soon re-launched in early 2012. The packaging will be altered to a chic french-esq black and white shoe box instead of the current black and pink boxes.
Outer Box and Boudoir Prive Box

So like all the beauty boxes, it comes beautifully wrapped in plain black outer box and inside the pink box with all the items wrapped in tissue and ribbon. There is a small leaflet detailing all the products, how to use them and the prices - however no discount codes - I presume this is because of the merge with Jolie? Call me a nit-picker but I did notice a few spelling errors in the leaflet.... anyway let's move onto the important part, what's in the box?

Can you spot my fake eyelashes that I removed half-asleep last night -
must of thought that was a good place to keep them safe :)

Dead Sea Spa Magik Silky Smooth Body Lotion
I am already familiar with the brand as I loved the Dead Sea Spa Magik Bath Salts from this month's Glossybox. This is a 50ml tube (worth approx £1.17) which is a good size for travelling or handbags as you could use this lotion as a hand cream. The cream is light yet rich, non greasy and sinks in quickly it did leave my skin silky smooth.

Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturiser
I have tried Korres Lip Butters before so I am already familiar with the brand. I received a 10ml tube of the moisturiser (worth £4.75) so a good size for travelling. First impressions are it is quite strongly scented of Rose, richly moisturising but sinks in nicely but non-greasy. I will let you know my thoughts once I have tested on my face for a good week or so.

Vinies Ayurveda's Soul Luminous Skin Mask
Not heard of this brand before, but apparently it has been featured on Vogue.co.uk. I received 2 small tubs of the mask both of which are 15ml in size (worth £24.63). I am quite shocked at the price as the packaging looks very cheap and the product itself looks almost 'home made'. It is gentle enough to use daily and it promises to exfoliate and brighten and enhance complexion. It has a strong smell, and not sure why but I feel wary of using this - possibly the strong smell and strange diarrhoea colour? I will be patch testing this first before applying over my face just to be on the safe side.

Studio Makeup Rich Hydratation Lipstick
For me this is the star item of the box, it's the only product of the box that I feel excited about and the only full size product (worth £12.25). It's another brand I haven't tried, although the packaging does look familiar. I received the lipstick in the shade 'truly red' which is right up my street! The black packaging is sleek and has an unusual 'pen click' to open/secure the lipstick which is satisfying. It's nice to be able to see the colour shade quickly at a glance in the bottom of the lipstick. The lipstick its self is gorgeous - creamy, rich, hydrating and super pigmented. If you are not feeling too daring to pull off a bright red lip, you can also dab a little on the lips for a lip-stain or mix with a nude lipstick to tone down.

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo & Conditioner
Another brand that I haven't tried before but I believe this has been featured in a previous Boudoir Prive box? Looking forward to trying as it is a 100% organic natural shampoo and conditioner and promises to create thick, glossy and bouncy hair. I received two 10 ml sachets of the shampoo and two 8ml sachets of the conditioner (worth approx £3.62) wrapped up in a nice drawstring bag.

November's box is named 'Les Indispensables' meaning things that are absolutely essential - beauty must-haves. I like that they have given a sample in each category: bodycare, skincare, haircare, makeup & lifestyle, rather than all from one area. I was sent this box to review from their PR, but that hasn't altered my views. To be honest the contents of the box didn't excite me very much apart from the lipstick and the Rahua samples. Since the company have merged with Jolie, I have high hopes that there will be some improvements and for them to bring some fresh french products as the french are renowned for having great skincare brands.

Are you a Boudoir Prive member? What did you think to this month's box?
