The Body Shop New Year Detox

Everyone over-indulges in guilty treats over Christmas, so the New Year calls for some Detoxing. Here are a few mini-product reviews that I have been testing over the last week from The Body Shop.

Deep Sleep Dreamy Pillow Mist (£10)
All those late nights over Christmas have caught up with me and resulted in my sleeping pattern out of a routine. The spray contains Community Fair Trade camomile oil and Jujube date and is very soothing and the scent is unusual. The combination of a nice relaxing bath, burning my lavender candle and a few sprits of this on my pillow means I drift off to sleep instantly. I would definitely recommend trying this out if you are having trouble sleeping and I know a few of you are not keen on the usual lavender scented sleeping aids.

Long Handled Cactus Brush (£9)
I have heard great things about dry body brushing;  it can help to exfoliate and help stimulate blood flow and circulation, enhance the lymph system, reduce cellulite and eliminate toxins from the body.

Dry skin brushing promotes movement of the lymphatic system which can become stagnant or thick especially during a natural detox or cleansing program. Dry skin brushing will give your lymph system a kick start and leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised! Dry skin brushing will change the health of your whole body. Circulation improves, your skin becomes softer, skin infections and irritations can be reduced, whole body freshness is enhanced, your level of stimulation increases and even colds can be prevented, your skin feels softer and smoother and all in all you feel like you have done some exercise when you have not!

This extra-long handle brush can be used both on dry skin and wet in the bath or shower with shower gel. Brush the dry skin starting at the soles of your feet and working your way up your legs, your front (belly & boobs) and your back, brushing vigorously as you feel able to. Then do your hands and up your arms focus the brush strokes towards the heart.  Dry body brushing is definitely something I am going to do regularly, not just this detoxing month.

Vitamin C Radiance Capsules (£15)
These are great if you have been stuck indoors and your skin is looking a little dull and tired and you want to smooth and perk up your skin’s appearance to enhance your natural glow. The capsules contain antioxidant vitamin C which encourages collagen production, improves elasticity and protects against damaging environmental aggressors and Community Trade Brazil nut oil to moisturize and soften the skin.

The small jar comes with 28 Vitamin C Radiance Capsules which are very easy to use, simply twist off the tip and squeeze out the orange scented serum which is more than enough to cover the whole face. I was expecting it to be oily, but it is a moisturising serum that sinks into the skin almost immediately and reminded me more of a primer as it was non-greasy. I applied the treatment before bed after cleansing and noticed that my skin felt noticeably silky smooth straight away but I didn’t notice the glow until the next morning.  I think these would be great to apply underneath makeup as an alternative to a primer for Glow- Stopping Skin.

  1. I've wanted to try the pillow mist for awhile now but was always skeptical about whether it actually helps or not (especially for £10). I might give it a go though; bordering on desperate to fix my sleeping habits. :p
