Models Own Hed Kandi Party Polishes
You may remember I blogged about the Eylure Hed Kandi lashes? Well Models Own have brought out a range of party polishes to complete the party look!
Models Own, the cult destination for on trend fashion colours has joined forces with Hed Kandi, the world's most glamorous going-out brand to create a new exclusive collection of nail polishes inspired by the party capital of the world: Ibiza. This year is Hed Kandi's 10th anniversary on the Balearic party island, and the range of five polishes reflects the Hed-turning, fashion forward glamour that the fabulous brand brings to all their events on The White Isle.
The five flirty shades are guaranteed to take you from day to night and back to day from city to beach and sunset to sunrise! 'Beach Party' is a sunny, bright and intoxicating polish inspired by the world famous sunsets on the White Isle. 'Balearic Cool' is a crystal aquamarine blue inspired by the waters of Formentera. 'Disco Heaven' is a glittery, gold disco bomb; 'Ibiza Mix' is a dense multi-coloured day-night sparkle and 'Hedonist' is a no inhibition hot neon coral.
My favourite polish from the range has to be Ibiza Mix it's the perfect multi-coloured glitter to create a glittery accent ring finger nail - reminds me of confetti. It looks great on top of a brightly coloured polish although two coats are needed and I can image this would look fab on the toes paired with flip flops.
The Models Own Hed Kandi Collection will be available from Boots online priced at £5 each. Are you a Hed Kandi fan? What do you think of the polishes?

I'm Ebuzzing March Blogger of the Month!
" There's no denying that blogging and the fashion industry seem to go hand-in-hand. In fact, the fashion, style, and beauty worlds as a whole change at breakneck speeds all the time. Blogging, as a result, is the perfect match: it's something you can use to share opinions, providing up-to-the-minute commentary on the ever-changing landscape and business of fashion and beauty. The charm of being a fashion or beauty blogger has never been greater than now, likewise, one has never been able to feel as close to either industry as they can today.
And without further ado, we introduce our Blogger of the Month for March, Catherine Maughan, who writes for and runs Perfectly Polished, a sizeable fashion and beauty blog. Starting her first blog in 2005 for a university project, Catherine decided to set up Perfectly Polished in 2009, after reading a lot of beauty and fashion blogs; "I decided to set my own up as a creative output to share beauty tips, favourite products, and it has grown from there," she told us. "I enjoy being part of an online blogging community."
And what a community this one is. Fashion and beauty blogs number somewhere in the thousands in the UK alone, so being social via a blog of this type is really no problem - either through being a fellow blogger, or an avid reader. "I have made some really good friends through setting up my blog," said Catherine. "I enjoy the social side very much - being invited to events and meeting new people." And here, the brains behind Perfectly Polished has hit on something quite important.Yes, blogging holds many perks - especially if you're a beauty or a fashion blogger. Catherine confirms this: "When I first set up my blog," she explained, "I didn't expect that so many amazing opportunities would come from it." She went on to say that it's exciting getting a sneak-peak of products before they hit the shops, as well as being chosen before others to review products. "It's great that some companies are keen to get bloggers input and opinions at the design stage and are interested in hearing what they like (and don't like)," she said. But the important part is, we think, that you shouldn't just start blogging to become a celebrity of the blogging world, or simply to make money.
It's clear that Perfectly Polished began (and continues) out of a love for sharing opinions, and it's this that's got its creator this far - not a mere want for lots of free products. "I am honest with product reviews and being Northern, I tend to be quite outspoken and say it like it is at times, which I think people find refreshing," Catherine told us. But her success hasn't just stopped at product reviews. Last weekend, she had a photoshoot with Grazia (she's being featured this week, so watch out for it).
What else? She was shortlisted for the Marie Claire Magazine's 'Blogger of the Year' and 'Tweeter of the Year' awards; she is currently a contributor for www.shesaidbeauty.com; she's been to so many blogger events that "it's difficult to mention all of them", and she also - as you may or may not know - has been listed as the most influential Beauty blogger in the country by our very own Ebuzzing Labs for the second month in a row. And this is from building an audience and becoming influential - all from writing good content that resonates with the kind of people you're talking to via your blog.
"I think beauty and fashion bloggers are highly influential to their followers, which benefits brands" she said, telling us a little bit about how she thinks fashion and beauty benefit from blogging. "I know that a few times I have blogged about a certain item and linked to the brand's website and overnight there has been so much demand that it has sold out," she continued. "It's pretty amazing to know I have that amount of influence." With this amount of sway in her online community, Catherine and Perfectly Polished must have been approached by hundreds of different brands, yet she herself believes that the industry has been "fairly late in engaging with bloggers and social media". Better late than never, though, right?
As for Catherine's own tastes, she enjoys reading travel, food, fashion and beauty blogs. Recently she's started reading mummy blogs, but warned me: "before you ask, no I'm not expecting!" If she were, we could probably - along with the baby - expect the birth of one of the greatest mummy blogs the UK has ever seen, if Perfectly Polished is anything to go by!
So, if you want to have a look at how Catherine words her widely-read content, or if you are a beauty and fashion addict, have a look at Perfectly Polished, add it to your bookmarks, and join her in celebrating all things good, and bad, in these industries. "
Review: Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation
On Sunday on my way back from London (more about that later!) I went to the Benefit Blogger Afternoon Tea at Harvey Nichols in Manchester which was a lovely treat. We were treated to a pot of tea, dainty sandwiches, cupcakes, scones with Harvey Nics Jam & cream, macaroons & lavender cream pastries. There was loads of treats left over so we were given a doggy bag to take home along with a cute postcard travel set in our goody bag. It was lovely to finally meet the lovely Rowena from Cosmetic Candy Blog, Benefit's Digital Manager Jasmine & very briefly Lisa who is Benefit's Head Makeup Trend Artist - as we have been Tweeting each other for some time!
I was late so missed the talk about the new foundation - 'Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW SPF 25 Brightening Makeup' and missed getting colour matched but I was kindly sent two foundations to test out yesterday. I was sent two in the post today to try: 'I'm pure 4 sure' and 'believe in me' both from the IVORY range, and it was lucky I was send two as neither of them are the perfect match for my skin tone - but mixed together they are! The Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Foundation comes boxed with a little sample of the Pore Professional Primer, which I haven't tried before but am suitably impressed.
I really like the simple packaging in a clear plastic pump dispenser with black pen marker type writing, it's clear to see how much you have left and with it being plastic it's much lighter if you like to cart around your makeup with you in your handbag each day. There are 9 shades in the range with 3 different depths and three different tones - although I found them slightly more towards a yellow tone.
The texture is very runny but easy to blend in with fingers and it blends to nothing but leaves a slightly luminous and healthy glow to the skin - perfect 'no makeup' makeup. It's not cakey at all, and very light-weight but gives good coverage evening out the skin tone and covering any redness. Normally I find oil free foundations too matte and powdery looking on me as I have dry areas but this foundation is hydrating and feels like I am not wearing any makeup! The foundation is brightening, hydrating, contains SPF, Oxygen and an oil free formula and really lasts all day on the skin - perfect for summer, like today it was boiling and I was literally melting in my car but my foundation stayed on - amazing!
The Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Foundation costs £24.50 and is available from 31st March at Boots, John Lewis, Feel Unique, Look Fantastic, & House of Fraser
Special thanks to Rowena & the Benefit team for organising such a lovely event up North - we should definitely do another one soon! I look forward to meeting the team again next week when they are launching a new counter in Middlesbrough! So any PR's reading this take note - you should do more events up North!! Contact me if you need any help or ideas :-)

Urban Decay Build Your Own Palette
I didn't really get the hype over the Naked Palettes, but Urban Decay has just revealed that they are bringing out a brand new range of 68 eye shadows and a custom palette where you can build your own eye shadow 6 pan palette which sounds amazing! Urban Decay have revamped their packaging, and 'suede-like' formulation which is thought to be the best eye shadows in the industry in terms of pigmentation and lasting power!
The eye shadows come individually panned in a sleek and modern metallic purple packaging, which is still inspired by NYC Subway tokens. You have the option of still buying the individual pans, or you can pop out the eye shadow to insert perfectly into your own custom six-pan palette. The metal palette comes with a good sized mirror, a Good Karma blending brush and 'Walk of Fame' eye shadow described as the perfect neutral shade.

Sleep Angel Pillow
So after looking on the internet for rough prices last week I went bed shopping, thrilling I know! So you know me...just a new mattress isn't good enough, I of course need a new Bed Frame, bedding, and new bedside tables with lamps! ha ha ;) When shopping I absolutely can't stand the hard sales pitch...I know what i'm after and prefer to look around myself and ask questions if I have any. I'm probably what's known as a salesman's worse nightmare as the usual patter about 'the sales ends on Monday' doesn't work on me i'm afraid! ;) I found quite a good deal on a good quality memory foam mattress but was quite disappointed with the choice of bed frames - all looked a bit cheap and nasty (and not cheap in price)! So still on the lookout for a bed frame - have seen a couple online but I'm wary of buying in case there's an issue/wrong size!
So that get's me onto pillows...I always used two or three pillows before my accident, and bought a memory foam pillow last year after hearing many people rave about them being good for back problems but I found it uncomfortable and too hard, I find using one soft feather pillow works better for me. I came across The Sleep Angel Micro Fibre Pillow from John Lewis priced at £60, which is the first and only pillow to be impermeable to viruses, bacteria, the common flu bug, bed bugs and dust mites. Air can enter and leave, making it super hygienic and incredibly comfortable and clinical tests prove that it improves overall sleep quality.
Have any of you tried the Sleep Angel Pillow?

NOTD - CND Shellac Hot Pop Pink
Last weekend I was interviewed by Grazia Magazine and had a photo shoot which was all very last minute! The 'team' (photographer) ended up coming up to the North East - so it was the perfect opportunity to get some local North Eastern businesses involved to get them some press coverage!
I had my CND Shellac Nails applied by Sam at Russell Eaton Salon in Leeds, West Yorkshire just over a week ago and they are still looking great - no chips and super shiny! I chose the shade 'Hot Pop Pink' which is a bright hot pink perfect for the summery weather we have been experiencing this week and the treatment only took 45 minutes. Shellac are great as there's no drying time involved, they are chip-proof and last 14 days there is no damage to your natural nails (providing you remove them properly). I shall do a post in the next couple of weeks on how I remove them as I have had quite a few people ask me.
Have you ever tried Shellac?

Kinky Knickers is a new brand of handmade lace undies by retail consultant Mary Portas. Each pair is made entirely in Britain, from the finest lace produced in Middleton, Greater Manchester. A group of apprentices chosen by Mary were specially trained in traditional lace making techniques, and the knickers are a culmination of all their hard work. The hope is that this exciting collection will shine a light back on British manufacturing, and you can support the cause by wearing your Kinky Knickers with pride! Designed to be comfortable, sexy and VPL free, each pair comes with a hidden message in the gusset encouraging wearers to ‘Love Your Country!’
So give yourself a pat on the the bottom for backing Great British manufacturing. The range is available exclusively at Liberty London (pre-order online only) in a range of colours from a more subtle ivory to a striking neon pink with orange trim. There has been an overwhelming demand that ordering online at Liberty's is made-to-order, however today Boots has began stocking them online priced at just £10, £1 from every pair sold by Boots will be donated to Macmillian Cancer support. There is free collection from store if you spend over £20 at Boots or free home delivery if you spend over £40!
Beauty Box News: Carmine & GLOSSYBOX Merging
I found out the news earlier that Carmine & GLOSSYBOX are to join forces starting from next month. From what I have read Carmine will be stopping their beauty box subscription service immediately and there shall be no March box with no explanation as to why? Carmine is one of the boxes that I was yet to try, and I guess now I won't get the opportunity, but from the good reviews it seems to be always consistent, since it launched in October last year, with keeping it's subscribers happy with extremely generous full size sizes and a good selection of luxury products.
I have wondered for a while are all these French based companies all secretly linked?? It seems there have been quite a few changes recently to the Beauty Box craze, with Feel Unique cancelling their box, Jolie & Bourdoir Prive merging and the addition of new boxes on the market, like She Said Beauty (click here for a 25% discount code). The product buyer from Carmine has joined She Said Beauty which is good news!
I don't recall seeing any negative reviews on Carmine - although the packaging in my opinion wasn't the nicest with the bright green! It seems a lot of the Beauty Community are a bit miffed with how Carmine has handled the merge - it seems that there was little or no communication to most of their subscribers or affiliates. It will be interesting to see what their first merged box with GLOSSYBOX shall look like!
Were you a Carmine subscriber? Are you looking forward to seeing the Carmine/Glossybox merged box?

Willow Water 6 Week Challenge
On Monday I received a huge delivery of Willow Water and began my Willow Water 6 week Challenge! My challenge is to drink 1.5 litres of Willow Water every day for 6 weeks - and I shall be recording weekly any changes I notice in the improvement and condition of my skin during this time.
Willow Water is not only an exceptionally refreshing and smooth tasting water, its unique and pure formulation with naturally occurring beautifying properties helps to freshen the complexion and aid the achievement of naturally beautiful skin. It contains a unique blend of minerals, including salicin and high levels of calcium, that has been demonstrated to be effective in creating beautiful, clear skin. Sourced from the famous ‘Holy Well of Cartmel’ in the Lake District, this region was once a prehistoric forest of white willow trees, the source of the salicin. The water has been legendary for its restorative qualities since the 1700s.
Salicin – a derivative of White Willow bark – has been known since Hippocrates’ days for its anti-inflammatory properties. The calcium comes from the filtration process as rain from the Cartmel Fell penetrates down through natural limestone layers. Drinking Willow everyday improves the complexion making it clearer and blemish-free. At the other end of the scale, Willow can help with more serious skin conditions. Willow has received hundreds of testimonials from its loyal customers, many of whom suffered extreme skin problems for years until they tried Willow – there truly is something in the water.
Do you want naturally perfect skin and a brighter, clearer, and healthier complexion? Have you ever tired Willow Water?

Healthier Eating with Quorn
This year one of my aims is to lead a healthier lifestyle and diet. I would say even though I allow myself treats I eat fairly well most of the time and although there are improvements I could make I do enjoy cooking and I want to be able to eat nice meals. I am a meat eater and I don't think I could ever become a veggie, as much as I like vegetables, I would miss bacon butties, steak and roast chicken too much!
I recently went to my sister's for dinner and she made Lasagne and asked if I noticed anything different...which I couldn't! She told me she had used Quorn mince and I honestly couldn't tell the difference! I must admit that I have never really thought of using Quorn instead of meat before and I didn't realise that they do bacon, chicken fillets, steak and even a roasting joint! The main constituent of Quorn, is a naturally occurring, high quality, healthy form of protein and it replicate the taste and texture of meat exceptionally well, as well as containing less fat.
If you and your family haven’t tried Quorn before, try making one of their favourite meals with it and see if they notice the different? You can find Quorn recipes on their website, and you can make the dishes (or try some of your own recipes but replace meat with Quorn substitute) and upload pictures and share recipes to the Facebook Wall.
Have you tried Quorn? Did you notice a different in taste?

Wanna come with me the Havaianas Origine Espadrilles Event?!
As well as a summery celebration the event shall include a photo shoot with us all being photographed mid-motion, the result being a video complied using the Lomo Matrix Effect which should look pretty cool! You can check out the Havaianas Facebook page for more information on the range. Apparently we shall be required to jump around a lot, so they are looking for people full of energy and enthusiasm - pass me that Red Bull then ;)
Good Luck!

March 2012 Harrods Edition GLOSSYBOX
This month GLOSSYBOX created the ultimate Special Edition Harrods Box! I think this is a brilliant idea to join forces with a department store to create a special box containing a handpicked selection of luxury samples from the world's sought after brands by Harrods beauty buyers. If you remember last month when I blogged about February Glossybox, I mentioned this month was going to be a 'mystery box' - GLOSSYBOX revealed a series of letters as a clue which spelt out KNIGHTSBRIDGE. As usual there was a lot of hype surrounding the box with it being a Harrods special and seeing that some of the boxes contained mini Burberry Lipsticks got me very excited! The Harrods Edition box comes in a limited edition white and black box with black shredded tissue paper, Harrods ribbon and Harrods sticker. So onto what was in my box....
Versace Vanitas Eau de Parfum (valued at £1.98)
I know the normal perfume sample vitals that have been found in beauty boxes before are a touchy subject as most people feel a bit ripped off when they receive them as you can pick them up for free normally in most department stores. However, this Versace 4.5ml mini bottle that came boxed is what I would consider a 'luxury sample' of perfume. It's a handy size for keeping in hand bags to touch up throughout the day. This scent is a bit too flowery for me, but my mum likes it so I shall pass it to her, in fact she had already claimed it before I had chance to open it!
Bliss Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter (valued at £5)
I love this, in fact this has got to be my favourite item of the box believe it or not! I have tried Bliss body butters before in Lemon and Sage and they are gorgeous so refreshing and citrus scented. This scent is Blood Orange and White Pepper which is very unusual yet works I can't stop smelling it! The butter is paraben free and is great for mositurising as it leaves skin super smooth and hydrated. It says that it contains coconut oil and natural antioxidant rich ingredients that fight against free radical damage to leave skin smooth, soft & supple. I shall be slathering this on this weekend as I'm going to Leeds and heard it's going to be sunny, fingers crossed!
Revive Intensite Creme Lustre SPF30 (valued at £27.42)
This is an intensive, firming moisturiser that helps to reduce the appearance of sagging skin. I think this is more suitable for mature skin so this is another item I shall be passing onto my mum to try. I have tried some of the Revive range before and it was nice but I can't get over the price - £235 for a 60ml pot of this cream!
Leighton Denny High Performance Nail Colour in Honey Trap (valued at £4.22)
I love this shade its a lovely light mink creamy nude colour that's described as 'warm clay'. It looks so chic and clean on the nails and the perfect alternative to the classic French Manicure. I enjoy using Leighton Denny nail products as they are great quality and long lasting. This is a perfect size nail polish to take on holiday with me and I can't wait to wear this this evening but I'm actually having a Gel Manicure done tomorrow morning!
Clairns Extra Firming Body Cream (valued at £4.20)
I have not tried a firming body treatment cream before but I may try this tonight to try and firm up in time for holiday season. It says it's a formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which restore the skin's youthful density and elasticity. I shall let you know how I get on, I may try a DIY Body wrap and apply this cream afterwards?
Overall, I am pleased with this month's box content, although of course I would of loved to have tried a Burberry Lipstick! My favourite products have to be the Leighton Denny mini nail polish and the Bliss Body Body. I have roughly calculated that the products in the box are worth £42.82, so for £10 plus P&P it's very good value! You can order from the GLOSSYBOX site and there is no contract so you're free to cancel at any time, but you do save money if you sign up for a 6 month or 12 month subscription.
