The stars were all shining brightly at the 2012 BAFTA Television Awards last night, where the Official Hairstylist of the awards, Mark Hill, was on hand to help the celebrities look their very best.

Lydia Bright, from the hugely popular TOWIE series, attended the awards with Mark and looked red-carpet ready in her Dynasty dress and soft up do to match. To help Lydia really make a statement, this year Mark created an extra special hairstyle for her with his brand new Big Night Out range, which he launched last night and is available from Boots.comNot all of us have access to celebrity hairdressers for our Big Nights Out, so here are Mark’s pick of the best hairstyles from the BAFTAs, and his tips on how you can recreate the glamorous styles at home:

Lydia Bright - Glam Goddess Look:

Step 1: Spray Big Night Out, Supersize Me, Volume Spray at your roots and blow dry with as much volume as possible.

Step 2: Gently smooth the hair to a low slung side ponytail. Use your fingers to twist small sections of the hair around each other to create a chic chignon.

May 2012 GLOSSYBOX 1st Anniversary

This month's GLOSSYBOX celebrates their 1st Birthday - a year has certainly gone quick and also this month's box seems to have come around quicker than usual! The products came beautifully packaged as normal using a pale pink box but with a twist - printed birthday tissue paper with bows and cupcakes and anniversary ribbon. This month's box contained five products plus two bonus items! If you visit GLOSSYBOX and enter the code BIRTHDAYPROMO at the checkout you can blag yourself FREE postage & packaging until the 31st May 2012! So what's inside my box?

Noble Isle Summer Rising Cornish Hedgerows Bath & Shower Gel (worth £6)
I have heard of the Noble Isle brand which was launched last year but haven't had chance to try any of their products so this is a welcome edition. The packaging is lovely and its a nice generous sized sample and perfect for travel. The fragrance evokes the beginning of Summer, with toning elder flower and antioxidant charged gooseberry with clean notes of orange blossom, moss and cut grass. The scent reminds me of my Dad (he always smells of CK One) its fresh and summery I'm looking forward to trying this out when I'm away next week for 3 days.

Lolita Lempicka L'Eau an Blanc & Si Lolita (worth £1.02)
I already own the Lolita Perfume that I received as a gift and I'm not overly fussed on receiving perfume samples in Beauty Boxes unless it's a 'luxury sample' mini bottle rather than the vitals. I think it's only acceptable to throw them in as an added extra, rather than being classed as one of the five samples. This aside, it is nice to discover new fragrances, but it is a tricky one as I am quite fussy about scents, I like the Si Lolita but not so much on the L'Eau an Blanc which I'd think would be more suited to an older lady.

Weleda Wild Rose Face Cream (worth £2.32)
I have tried a couple of Weleda products in the past and really enjoyed using them and also love that the brand only contain natural ingredients that are grown bio-dynamically to help restore health and maintained well being. I received their Wild Rose Face Cream which I believe is quite a rich formula to be used as a night cream.

Uniqone All in one Hair Treatment (worth 84p)
The first leave-on spray mask on the market that offers the 10 main benefits that the hair needs. This sounds very interesting and promises to: Repair dry/damaged hair; heat protection; silkiness & smoothness; hair colour protection; de-tangling; adds body, shine and prevents split ends. I can't wait to try this out!

Let's Go Lashes (worth £8.95)
This is the only full size product in the box this month and a brand I hadn't heard of. These are made from 100% human hair - which is a bit strange? I tried these on yesterday and they were very easy to use, very natural looking and re-usable.

*Bonus Items*
A handy Glossybox Mirror and a pink balloon to celebrate their birthday! To help celebrate their Birthday they are asking to pose with your Glossybox Balloon and post the picture on their Facebook or Twitter profile! They are also running some competitions and have hidden 140 Golden Tickets inside the boxes this month to win a prize - were you a lucky winner?!

This month's box contained one full size product, along with two bonus products. I am most excited about trying the Noble Isle Bath & Shower Gel and the Hair treatment and I was impressed with the lashes but disappointed with the perfume samples. I have totted up the value of the products and it comes to roughly £19.13 which  for £10 (plus £2.95 P&P) is not bad. You can find out more and order your own GLOSSYBOX here.

What do you think of this month's First Birthday GLOSSYBOX? Did you receive anything different to mine?

The grand prize winner will receive a new Kia Picanto. The competition will end on May 13th so ensure all entries are in before then  and enter the competition now!

If I was to win the Kia Dubstep Competition I would be over the moon as not been to Poland before and my other half would be ecstatic winning tickets to Euro 2012!  I’d definitely be in the good books ;) There has been some impressive entries so far but don’t worry I filmed my niece and nephew dancing around in the living room using my iphone – you certainly don’t need to have a fancy video camera or be a professional to enter!

To enter the competition you need to film yourself (or a willing friend) dancing around to DJ Flux Pavilion ‘I can’t stop’. You can check out the Kia You Tube channel to learn the dubstep dance moves. You can enter alone or as a team (there is no limit to participants) but bear in mind that a maximum of 2 can claim to prize to Euro 2012. Under 18’s can contribute to the video but they are not permitted to qualify for selection as one of the finalists. How to: Remove CND Shellac Gel Nails At Home

I have been requested many time to write a post on how to remove Shellac Nails at home so thought as I have just removed mine today I would explain the simple removal process for you do to at home! I will say however tempting it is don't pick or peel off the gel don't do it as this will damage your natural nails underneath. If you remove the gel properly yourself (or professionally) then there will be no damage to your natural nails. This step will also work for other Gel Polish brands and also makes removing Glitter Nail Polish far easier!

What you will need:
Acetone or Gel Remover,
Nail File,
Towel (to protect your surface),
Cotton Wool Pads,
Aluminium Tin Foil,
Wooden Orange Stick (Hoof Stick),
Nail Buffer,
Cuticle Oil,

Optional:
Moisturising Hand Cream, Nail Treatment

Step One:
Firstly gather all your tools in front of you and lightly buff over the nails using your nail file to break the top coat seal.

Step Two:
Saturate a cotton wood pad with acetone and place over your nail, wrap a square of tin foil around the nail to secure. Repeat for both hands and leave to work for 10-15 minutes. If it is easier you can do one hand at a time so you can still function with the other!

Step Three:
After 15 minutes pull off each foil wrap and you will notice that the gel will have  lifted and become loose, and you can use the Orange Stick to gently push off any remaining gel.

Step Four:
Buff your Nails using the Buffer to smooth any ridges and add a shine and massage in some cuticle oil. If your nails are weak or flaky you can apply a nail treatment and apply some moisturising hand cream if you wish.

Let me know what you think if you try this at home. How do you normally remove your Gel Nails?

Why do Companies not keep hold of Loyal Customers & Staff?

It's not often I rant but feel the need to today as it's something that has been frustrating me for quite a while, and others too I'm sure! I've noticed recently that a great deal of companies these days don't want to hold on to loyal paying customers and also on the other side retain hard-working loyal staff! I thought I would give a couple of recent examples but there are endless other companies I could mention too....

My family have had Sky TV installed when it was first launched in the UK 14 years ago, they have been very loyal customers: always had the top package which hasn't been the best value for money. My dad has the attitude that if you get what you pay for and thinks if you pay more money for something it's going to be the best, which I have proven him wrong on so many occasions he hates to admit! He is probably a salesman 'dream' - he doesn't shop around, takes the companies word for it, is easily persuaded, rush buys and doesn't often barter for a good deal or discount and would definitely never ring up to cancel something!

My Mum was getting really annoyed that we were paying for so many sky channels but there was never anything on worth watching, or playing the same repeats over and over, yet the monthly sky bills were getting more and more expensive! I have rang up a few times Sky on their behalf over the last few years to get them a better deal, which nothing was ever offered apart from taking off certain Chanels we weren't watching to make it slightly cheaper each month.

After speaking to quite a few friends in the same position and who had left Sky for the same reason they decided to switch the TV to Virgin Media to have a package deal as we already have phone line and internet with them which made more sense and we ended up getting a good price and saving almost £80 a month! When I rang up Sky to cancel (which wasn't easy as it sounds!) took almost three hours would you believe and we were offered free internet and phone line for a year! I mean why was that amazing deal not offered to them before now?! In any case we declined as even with that offer we would of been paying more a month than what we would get with Virgin Media! Why do companies not want to hold onto loyal paying customers and not offering them competitive deals like they do new customers?

My Dad has been with Swinton Car Insurance for 20+ years and I've been telling my dad for years to compare his car insurance to get a better deal... He couldn't tell me how much he pays as it renews automatically each year and comes out Direct Debit and said he's happy sticking with them! When I was going through my mum's bank statements with her last week I was surprised to see that my Dad pays more car insurance than me and I've only had my licence 3 years! I quickly did a comparison and showed him he could be saving more than double what he's currently paying and with him being such a loyal customer Swinton should be giving him a better deal for staying! My dad was actually taken aback with the difference and is definitely going to leave Swinton after seeing how much he could be saving - just think of how much he has 'overpaid' over the years!

My iPhone 4 has stopped working, it's stuck on a continuous reboot loop and I spent hours yesterday and today trying to fix it, trying resetting it and putting into DFU Mode and re-installing the software and re-stalling it but failed. My only option now is to take it to an Apple Store (which is a 2 hour round-trip) to get a 'Genius' to look at it and try to repair it apparently it's faulty hardware problem. I'm gutted as have lost all my data, contacts, photos and videos that I haven't backed up. But hey ho nothing I can do so no point dwelling on it these things happen but I'll be making sure I back up weekly with iCloud from now! I have been a loyal customer of 3 mobile for a number of years, believe it or not I've not really ever had an issue with poor phone signal, in fact it's been very reliable my only issue has been with their crap customer service! My current 24 month contract runs out in July so I due an upgrade....so you would think they would offer me a good deal to stay with them yes? Nope they offered a higher price of what I'm currently paying monthly, then £140 for the new handset and an added £60 fee for upgrading a month early! That isn't an upgrade deal - I could get a better deal logging on as a new customer on their website pffftttt!

Not sure if this is just a London 'thing' but I've noticed that people seem to switch jobs much more frequently down there - sometimes within 6-12 months! The majority of people I know up North have worked for the same company for years - maybe not the same role but definitely stay loyal to the company. Not saying this is a bad thing to move jobs frequently, if your unhappy with a company or your job then of course you are going to look to make a move or feeling underpaid and overworked then will look for more money! But do companies not want to keep hold of hard-working staff and make them feel appreciated these days?

I hear stories from friends that are unhappy and not treat well at work, no support or guidance, they have no work/life balance and expected to work 16+ hour days and get paid peanuts - I find it very sad. Of course there are times when there are tight deadlines and you don't mind working overtime and long hours but not every day - it's not healthy! I see people frequently tweeting at nearly midnight saying they are still working in the office and I think your joking right?! Any respectable company working staff to the ground like that, do they not realise that their staff won't be happy in their job, word of mouth travels fast, you will get a bad reputation and staff will be off sick - which in turn costs money. Anyone in that situation your health is more important than any job or company!

I have had my own bad experiences of being treat disgustingly in the work place over the past year and it makes me very disheartened and baffled to how companies run a business in all honesty! In the long run it ends up costing money & time - recruitment process, training, investment. Does it always come down to money or are businesses lacking in morals and values?

I'm sure some people will disagree with me on this subject but it also makes me so angry that so many companies are taking advantage of people by getting them to work unpaid - if you're 16 and still at school then this is acceptable but not if you already have work experience, a degree or you have already proven yourself that you are capable of being employed! I have heard in some cases of 'interns' working for a company for over a year and there is no job at the end as they will simply ship in another intern to replace them! Very unfair and disgraceful if you ask me, I did my two weeks unpaid works experience at school, but since I've worked hard on my studies and yes had some really crappy (paid) jobs along the way but always enjoyed earning my own money and not having to rely on support from parents!

I am job hunting at the moment which is very frustrating but I am keeping positive that the right role will come along soon for me. But seriously the amount of job roles I have applied for recently and it's quite clear that I'm over 25, have a first degree, a masters, management and life experience and I get a reply asking if I would be interested in an internship?! I know times are hard but come on this is really taking the p*ss and quite frankly it's impossible for anyone to survive on £0 income living in London or anywhere for that matter... As Alan Sugar says if you pay peanuts...then you get monkeys!

In my applications I have been very clear on what I can offer and what I am looking for - one of the things is I'm honest and loyal and want to join a company whereby there is room to grow and develop. I want to stick with a company for years, not just looking to jump ship after 6 months and hope that they will treat me well in return. Especially with the double dip recession and people spending less money you would be thinking that companies would be doing everything possible to retain customers (money) and good workers surely!?

Product Rave: Monu Moisture Rich Collagen Cream

If you read my blogpost on the recent GLOSSYBOX, you will have seen I received Monu Professional Skincare Moisture Rich Collagen Cream. I have been using this cream constantly this week, I LOVE it, and have to say it's one of the best - maybe the best face moisturiser I have tried to date! That's saying something as I have tried loads ranging from high end to budget - so I had to write a post to rave about it!

Firstly I should point out that I have normal/combination skin that tends to be dehydrated especially on the tops of my cheeks and forehead. The cream is described as 'rich & luxurious to relieve dryness and smooth fine lines - and it certainly does all of that! The cream is suited for dry, very dry and dehydrated skins and I also think this would be great for mature skin.

The cream contains natural ingredients and no parabens: comforting rose and geranium essential oils, evening primrose and blackcurrant seed oils with essential fatty acids to repair skin lipids. Shea Butter & Sodium Hyaluronate to improve the skin's barrier function and natural betaines to stimulate the skin's hydration process. Marine collagen to help smooth fine lines and plant flavonoids with antioxidant action to help prevent pre-mature aging. Yep I don't understand what most of that means either but what I can say is it actually works!

The 50ml tube is a really good size for travelling and as it is so rich a small amount goes a long way. It is a rich luxurious cream that is a dream to apply and has a clean scent that's not overpowering. The cream sinks in nicely and works immediately plumping up the skin, super hydrating and creating a healthy glow. My skin has never felt so silky smooth afterwards and feels almost like new skin! This is one of the few products that I have received to date in beauty boxes that has been a new brand I have discovered and I can say I will definitely re-purchase.

The cheapest I have found the cream is £16.25 including free delivery from Feel Unique, which is very reasonably priced given it is such a excellent mosituriser, does what it says on the tin tube and contains good quality natural ingredients. Of course you can also get it in this month's Natural GLOSSYBOX if you have subscribed! Have you ever tried Monu Professional Skincare before?

She Said Beauty May 2012

I had an early wake up this morning as my May She Said Beauty Box arrived, so thought I would show you what was inside! May's box seems to have come around quick as it doesn't seem a month ago when I received the April Box and this month's box seems full to the brim with products! She Said Beauty, it launched two months ago so it's a fairly new monthly beauty box subscription, that you can cancel at anytime, whereby you get 5 deluxe samples (and normally a bonus item or two thrown in for good measure!) packaged beautifully and delivered to your door to try at home for £9 per month plus £2.95 postage & packaging. They are slightly cheaper than the other beauty boxes on the market and they offer special deals if you sign up for 3,6 or 12 months (see Discount Codes here) you can also save 25% off your first She Said Beauty by clicking here!

The box comes with a bright pink outer box, and a duck egg coloured inner box with a flip lid and all the products wrapped in straw and pink tissue paper. So onto what's inside this month's box:

Natio Lotus Soap Trio (worth £2.83)
This is an Australian brand that I was unaware of and is actually a full size soap - but is just one of the three that comes as a trio set. The soaps feature all-natural Indian Attar perfume which is the mind calming and mood enhancing scents used during yoga.

Inika Certified Vegan Lip Whip (worth £14.30)
This is a full size product that came boxed in lovely packaging and Inika is a brand that I have tried a few items from which is an organic vegan and cruelty free brand. I received the Lip Whip in 'Apricot' which is a gold/bronze shade which is not the colour I would go usually go for in a lip stick.

The Vintage Cosmetics Company False Lashes (worth £6)
I was happy to receive these strip lashes in 'Betty' made from human hair, they are a nice shape and create the perfect almond shaped eyes. This is another full size item, a brand that I haven't tried before and I think they are reasonably priced for strip lashes.

Kim Kardashian Eau De Parfum (worth £2.29)
I know receiving perfume samples in the beauty boxes is a touchy subject - I agree that most of the time you can pick up free perfume samples at most beauty counters. I wouldn't consider a tiny vital sample a 'luxury' sample however this boxed roller ball is a more substantial and is acceptable to receive. I used to own the full size of this perfume until it was taken by someone with sticky fingers from my office draw - brand new too would you believe!? Tut Tut This roller ball is really handy to keep in your handbag or desk draw - but keep it locked!

Green People SPF15 with Tan Accelerator (worth £2.59)
I have tried a couple of items from Green People and this is a welcome product as it's a natural and organic SPF15 with a carob based tan accelerator, clinically proven to speed up your tan by 25%. I look forward to trying this and it's the perfect size to carry in your hand luggage if you were going away for a few days in the sun.

*Bonus* Snowberry 3 sample gift (worth £10.62)
This is a brand that I haven't heard of before, but Snowberry is a skincare brand made from a rich fusion of the purest and finest active ingredients from New Zealand and I'm looking forward to testing these. I received three sachet samples in a pink bag: Bright Defense Night Cream; Nourishing Rich Day Cream and Intensive Renewal Face Serum.

This month's box works out at £38.63 which is pretty good considering the subscription only costs £9 plus £2.95 p&p so you are really getting your money's worth with two full size products, generous size samples and an added bonus gift. I am excited about trying out the new skincare and also the tan accelerator and strip lashes.

You can subscribe for £9 a month plus p&p via the She Said Beauty website. You can save money by subscribing for 3,6, or 12 months see discount codes here and also if you are a first-time subscriber find out how to save 25% on your first box here
Have you subscribed to She Said Beauty? What did you think to this month's box?

Review: The Wonder Room London Shawls

You may have read my recent blog post on my fabulous Eyelash Extensions by Asma Docrat? Well Asma kindly introduced me to her cousin, Sabah, who has set up Wonder Room London: an online 'Aladdin's Cave' selling a collection of glamorous Shawls. Sabah had been a lawyer for 8 years and decided to leave her field and follow her dreams of working in the fashion industry! She found a niche market in that these shawls are not only practical but still glamorous. I LOVE hearing about when people have a complete career change, follow their dreams and set up their own business I find it very inspiring :)

This morning I had a nice surprise when the postman arrived with two identical large boxes - I had no idea what was inside! I was thinking has my naughty niece been accidentally buying things from my phone again like when a second-hand pregnancy book turned up the other week?! I'm still baffled by that one haha! Sabah had asked me whether I would like to review a shawl and what my favourite colour was - and after much umming and arring I decided on the Bright Fushia Pink. To my surprise, Sabah very generously sent three shawls: Fushia Pink, Black Doubled Sided & a Wine coloured sequin detailed one. They all came wrapped in tissue paper and boxed with ribbon.

The Wonder Room shawls are generous in size (27 inches in width by 70 inches in length) good quality, thick and heavy and can be even worn doubled over for extra warmth. The fabric is a blend of wool, silk and viscose and it's recommended to carefully hand wash the shawls due to the delicate hand-stitched beading. The shawls have tassels, ethic beads, mirrors and sequin detailing around the edges which adds glamour! I am actually quite obsessed with scarves and I've lost count the amount of scarves and pashminas I own! They are a great and fairly cheap accessory for dressing up an simple outfit. There's also many different ways to wear the shawls - either wrapped around your shoulders as a wrap/shawl, wrapped around your neck as a scarf, looped over like I have in the photograph or even as a top with a belt!

The shawls are ideal for travelling - don't know about you but I always get cold on a flight and these are so cosy to wrap around in and it's also handy to wrap around your shoulders on an evening as when your away on holiday it can get chilly on an night! They are also versatile for wearing everyday to dress up a simple outfit or wear on a special occasion. I particularly love the chic 'beige with black work' shawl for a wedding if you were wearing a cream or black outfit.

Sabah will be adding to her collection of shawls with jewellery and tunics so look out for those on the website Wonder Room London and show her some love on Twitter @wonderroomldn Are you a fan of scarves to brighten up a simple outfit?

Guest Post today from Laura Tinker who is going to share what is inside her dream makeup bag:

I love make up. It’s no secret that I could spend hours in the beauty department testing all
